White Eagle Resort is a vacation destination tucked away in a secluded bay on the west end of Minnesota's 10th largest body of water: Lake Vermilion. A popular site for friends and families to gather, the resort offers convenience, comfort and relaxation in a home away from home environment. The resort sits on 18 acres and rents 12 cabins that line the lakeshore property. White Eagle is unique to the area in that it sleeps an average of just 70 guests. Each cabin has an individual dock and there is space and wooded areas between giving a private cabin feel, but with the amenities of a full-service resort. The Lantry family has owned the resort for 25 years and many of their guests have been staying with them since the beginning. Their feedback speaks loudly: “Since finding your resort we’ve never looked anywhere else.” “This is our family vacation cabin,” and “after staying at several resorts in the area, we think we have found Vermilion’s hidden treasure.”

The Lantry family considers themselves stewards of the land and are committed to practicing environmentally friendly operations. All aspects of the business are considered and each year new procedures are implemented to increase efficiency and reduce landfill waste. Native plant restoration, shoreline erosion prevention, non-toxic housekeeping products, organic gardening, and waste and recycling management are just a few of the programs in place to contribute to building a healthy community.
Locally or Family-Owned Business Notes
White Eagle is family-owned and operated. Mike and Bonnie purchased the resort in 1989 and moved with their 3 young children, Tom, Anne and Ranae, from the suburbs of Chicago. Pioneers at heart, Mike and Bonnie took the beautiful, but rundown property and built a business that could support their growing family. The family worked together and the business grew. The children went to college and continued helping part-time. After 24 years, Mike and Bonnie sold their resort to their 3 now grown children. Tom, Anne and Ranae are in the midst of their 5th season as resort owners and managers. Mike and Bonnie still live on the property and play a large part in operations and guest experiences. As they have done for 25 years, the family plans to continue running the business and playing a large role in guest experiences. When you visit White Eagle, you are visiting the Lantry family. From pumping your gas and cleaning your cabin, to cooking you a burger and asking for a dance at the weekly cookout, you can expect a Lantry smile to greet you by name.
