Silver Falls is a scenic and quiet area that is off the beaten path . Silver Falls, part of an Ontario Provincial Park, contains great hiking and walking trails and remains one of the classic hiking trails in Thunderbay. It follows the Kaministiquia (Kam) River past several small waterfalls called Silver Falls, where you can take in the view of the larger picturesque Dog Falls.
The trail continues to the top of the Dog Falls and up to a lookout over the river valley. Beyond the falls the trail leads into the forest to a rocky area some people call the “Hoover Dam”. The trail is around 10 kilometres with a moderate difficulty with no main Park entrance. Most people use this trail as a linear trail or park a second car at the lookout if you only want to hike the trail one way.
*Remember that the water level in the Kaministiquia River is controlled by dams and water levels can change fast without warning. If you see water levels changing move quickly to high ground.
