High on a hill above the City of Silver Bay and Lake Superior are some short hiking trails that bring users to multiple overlooks. Interpretive signage at the overlooks helps users identify the sights, which include Palisade Head and Northshore Mining.

Interests and Areas of Expertise
I enjoy fishing and wilderness paddling, but my real passion is ice fishing and winter camping. In my work life I am a community planner, helping the region to reach its full potential in the future.
"You can't catch fish unless your line is in the water."
I love to quietly explore the Heart of the Continent via canoe and snowshoe, but don't mind firing up the motorboat or snowmachine if they can get me to a honey hole fishing spot! I like winter explorations as equally much as open water adventures. I'm not one for resorts and motels, tent life is good enough for me. In the winter I use a canvas tent and portable woodstove to keep the cold out. I have over 140 wilderness trips in my journal and I keep coming back for more in the BWCA, Quetico and other quiet spots in the Heart of the Continent. It never disappoints!
The short hiking trails to each overlook are natural surfaced and would be challenging for those with diminished mobility.
